Alison WienerChef Alison Wiener is a graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts in New York City, where she currently works as a personal chef and caterer specializing in health-supportive, whole-foods cooking. While she has always been generally interested in food and nutrition, she has become increasingly focused over the past 10 years on where our food comes from, how it is grown, handled, and prepared, and the impact of bad practices on the vast number of food-related environmental, political, and health issues facing us today. Her passion for nutrition and cooking is linked with a strong commitment to support and promote ethical, sustainable, and organic farming practices.
Alison strongly believes that maintaining a healthy, balanced, and satisfying diet is an art form; and that culinary masterpieces are created when imagination, passion, and knowledge encounter a colorful array of fresh, seasonal ingredients. She has professionally honed her talent for creating delicious, nutritious, and beautiful food working in the kitchens of Ariel's Restaurant in Brookfield, VT, and Gramercy Tavern in Manhattan, both devoted to serving local, seasonal, farm-fresh ingredients. She has also worked at Naturally Delicious, a catering company in Brooklyn that specializes in seasonally inspired dishes using produce grown in their own garden.
