Established in 1964, The Ballibay Camps share a beautiful 174-acre mountaintop campus in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The camps share the same residential and foodservice facilities, but offer different programs and daily schedules, somewhat like different colleges within a university. The total campus population of all camps combined never exceeds 200 people. Becasue the camps use overlapping areas of the campus and share many staff, it is typically easy for campers attending any one of the camps to take advatage of the programs offered by any of the other camps. Established in 1964, Camp Ballibay is an American Camp Association accredited summer camp offering exciting programs in Theater, Art, Music, Dance, Video, Radio & Rock-n-Roll for kids, tweens, and teens
Before the developments of Camp Ballibay's strong programs in the performing arts, in the mid-late 1960s and early 1970s, Ballibay's program emphasized the visual arts, horseback riding, and the outdoors. The Farm Arts Camp is a new camp of Ballibay Camps, Inc. that will be very close in activities and structure to the early days of Ballibay, with a stronger emphasis on the visual arts (painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, & ceramics) and traditional camp activities such as horseback riding, boating, outdoor cooking and camping, hiking, and nature study.
The Rock Farm is a summer sleep-away rock camp for kids ages 8-16 with experience playing guitar, drums, or electric bass guitar. We offer an intensive rock music program in a fun, friendly, and relaxed summer camp setting. We've been making rock music with kids for 25 years.
Endless Mountains Dance Camp is the first in a group of proposed dance camps known collectively as Northeast Dance Camps, directed by long-time Ballibay camper, staffperson, and administrator Kristin A. Fieseler, a professor of dance at DeSales University and Artistic Director of Annex Dance Company. EMDC developed out of three elements of Camp Ballibay's dance program: Traditional dance technique and performance, dance on camera, and training in "non-dance" movement styles such as Capoeira, Freerunning/Parkour, and Tai Chi Chuan. EMDC is currently operating as Camp Ballibay's Dance Intensive.
The Camptown Theater Workshop will take over operation of Camp Ballibay's 2-week August Theater Workshop which combines Theater Skills Curriculum, Shakespeare, Musical Theater, and Choral Music.
Currently Camp Ballibay offers a "full day of theater" option to its campers. With the opening of Ballibay Mountain Theater Camp in 2009, campers wishing to spend their entire day in theatre will attend this new camp, with a schedule and curriculum specifically geared towards the "all theater" camper.
